Next week’s Colloquium: Ülker Sözen on "Youth, Religion, and Secularism in the Digital Landscape: Polarization and Transformation in Contemporary Turkey" | 13 SeptemberNext Wednesday, our Associate Member Ülker Sözen will give a presentation on her research project "Youth, Religion, and Secularism in the Digital Landscape: Polarization and Transformation in Contemporary Turkey". CfA: Fellowships on “Religion and Urbanity” | University of ErfurtThe Centre for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences (Kolleg-Forschungsgruppe) “Religion and Urbanity: Reciprocal Formations“ at the University of Erfurt currently invites applications for Research Fellowships (3-6 months) for the period of 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2025. The research group “Religion and Urbanity” investigates the co-constitution and co-evolution of urban and religious life, actors, institutions and imaginaries in its historical depth for cities in Europe, the Mediterranean and South Asia, from the first millennium BCE onwards. Fellowships are awarded to scholars working in the Humanities, especially in the fields of History, History of Religion or in the fields of Sociology and Urban Studies with a focus on historical and religious developments in the pre-modern era especially. 54th German Historians’ Day in Leipzig | 19–22 SeptemberWith around 3,500 participants from Germany and abroad, the German Historians’ Day, which is held since 1893, is considered one of the largest congresses in the humanities in Europe. The aim of the meetings is to present the results of historical research to the public, to discuss current concerns of historians and to exchange professional and social ideas. To attend the 54th Historians’ Day, binding registration via a digital ticket shop is required. Analog registration at the congress venue is not possible. Register here 19–22 September
