Dear friends and colleagues, This week we would like to announce our colloquium for next week and draw your attention to a new publication and a conference. We have also compiled some important updates on the current emergency coronavirus legislation. And finally, we have some predictable but still unpleasant news: We had to cancel our Screening Religion tonight as cinemas are closed for the time being until 12 December 2021. But don't worry, we will show the documentary "Dealing with Death" as soon as we have the chance. Until then, we wait patiently and look forward to hopefully being able to go to the cinema with you again soon. Enjoy and have a good week! Lucy |

COVID-19 UpdateThe new emergency coronavirus legislation entered into force in Saxony on 22 November 2021. As a result, Leipzig University’s crisis management team has adopted new regulations affecting University operations, involving the “3G” rule when entering the workplace, the obligation to show proof, checking and documenting “3G”, testing, and the possibility to work from home in an uncomplicated way and without official forms. You can find more information here. Along with these rules of Leipzig University, the KFG has decided to host the colloquia exclusively online until further notice. Attendance in person is not possible. We will of course keep you informed about the latest developments. We would also like to request that you, who would like to continue to use the KFG offices, continue to test yourselves as usual at least 2 times a week with a rapid test here in the office – regardless of vaccination or recovery status. Apart from that, restrictions in public life are also currently increased again. For example, access to individual shops as well as to restaurants and cafés is only permitted with proof of vaccination or recovery and daily opening hours are to be restricted between 6 am and 8 pm. You can find an overview of the regulations here. |

Conference on "Religion, State, and Law"On 2-3 December 2021, the international conference "Religion, State, and Law" will be held at the University of Graz resp. in the virtual space: Long-term processes of transnationalization, secularization, de-secularization, and political mobilization of and by religion fostered wide-ranging and fundamental transformations in various regards. Among others, they are of great relevance for issues of social and system integration within liberal democratic states on the one hand and for international relations on the other hand. In order to elaborate on these challenges, a paradigm shift away from the Westphalian paradigm of the state and related conceptual and methodological thinking about state, law, and religion is crucial. Therefore, the conference aims at discussing inter- and intra-disciplinary perspectives of political, religious, legal, and cultural dimensions. You can find the full programme here, and register here. 2–3 December, 2021
