Publication “The Scope and restriction of the religion freedom as part of non-derogable rights under Indonesian legal system” by Ali Safa’at et al.We would like to point to the latest publication by our senior research fellow Muchamad Ali Safa'at: In his article on the freedom of religion and the legal system in Indonesia, he and his co-authors present a normative and qualitative research showing that the constitution and laws in Indonesia use the religious rights phrase which does not include protection against atheism and people that do not adhere to any religion or belief.

Call for Papers for Conference “Religious Identity and the Media. Methods, concepts, and new research avenues”This conference – organized by the DFG, the University of Bremen and the National Science Center Poland – focuses on the manifold relationships between creating, negotiating, maintaining and challenging religious and religion-related identities, and various types of media and forms of media use. All papers are welcome that investigate methodological and theoretical approaches to the topic, and present the results of empirical research. Particular interest lies in works giving justice to specific geopolitical contexts and respective media environments in Europe and beyond. Deadline: 1 November 2020
