CfP: Research in the Social Scientific Study of ReligionThe editors of Research in the Social Scientific Study of Religion (RSSR) Ralph Hood and Sariya Cheruvallil-Contractor invite proposals for the next edition of the RSSR – RSSR 32. RSSR is an interdisciplinary, international peer-viewed annual series, which publishes new and innovative research within the social scientific study of religion or belief. Contributions span a range of theoretical orientations, geographic contexts and research methods, though most articles are reports of original quantitative or qualitative research related mainly to the sociology and/or psychology of religion. Proposals for both the main and special sections should be send to the editors, Ralph Hood (ralph-hood@utc.edu) and Sariya Cheruvallil-Contractor (ac0967@coventry.ac.uk).

CfA: Social Media & ReligionBaktygul Tulebaeva (Goethe University Frankfurt), Evelyn Reuter (Friedrich Schiller University Jena) and Hiwa Asadpour (Goethe University Frankfurt) organize an international online workshop on "Social Media & Religion". The target of this interactive online workshop is to highlight the significance of social media from a cross-disciplinary perspective in the area of humanities and reflect on the study of social media and religion methodologically. The two-day workshop covers theoretical and methodological aspects and will be complemented by discussions of case studies and practical assignments. Applications from master students up to postdocs from different disciplines such as Anthropology, Linguistics, Area, Religious and Media Studies who conduct research or plan to do so in the fields of social media and religion are invited. 22–23 October, online

Movie Screening: Weltreise mit BuddhaFor this week's event recommendation Anja pointed us to a documentary film in the arthouse cinema Kinobar Prager Frühling. In "Weltreise mit Buddha" (2019) director Jesco Puluj explores the diversity of Buddhism worldwide. The young German filmmaker travels around the world to meet Buddhist monks and nuns for his debut film. Jesco Puluj begins his journey in Thailand and travels on to Japan, China, Nepal and Africa to get to know Buddhism in all its facets.
