Die vielen Kulturen in Bijlmer, einem Vorort Amsterdams, haben alle ihre eigenen Rituale, um von den Toten Abschied zu nehmen. Die Bestatterin Anita soll herausfinden, was sich die Gemeinde von einem neuen multikulturellen Bestattungsinstitut wünscht, das das Bestattungsunternehmen Yarden dort errichten will.

Doch je mehr Anita sieht und erfährt, desto mehr beginnt sie zu zweifeln. Braucht diese vielfältige Gemeinde so eine Einrichtung wirklich? Dieser weitgehend beobachtende, oft auch heitere Dokumentarfilm folgt Anitas schwieriger Mission zwischen persönlichen Erfahrungen, gesellschaftlichen Fragen und kommerziellen Interessen über einen Zeitraum von mehr als fünf Jahren.

The many cultures in Bijlmer, a suburb in the southeast of Amsterdam, all have their own rituals around bidding farewell to the dead. Funeral director Anita is tasked with finding out what the community would want in a new multicultural funeral home, which the funeral organization Yarden hopes to establish there.

But the more the initially confident Anita sees and learns, the more she begins to have her doubts. Do these diverse communities actually need Yarden? This largely observational account follows Anita’s uncertain mission over a period of more than five years. It combines her own experience with a larger picture full of cultural contrasts. Meanwhile, at the Yarden offices, the ideal of diversity has to be aligned with the business plan.
