Conference "Demands for Freedom: Christian Leftist Intellectuals in Context (1960-2000)" | 5–7 October

Christian left-wing intellectuals in East and West Germany are of central importance for understanding the history of religion in Germany in the 20th century. Often, these are personalities who, with great commitment, gave a face not only to profane historical topics but also to inner-church conflicts. On the basis of selected personalities in East and West Germany, the conference will enable a comparison of the positioning around questions of war and peace, the role of the state as well as the determination of the relationship to it by Christians. The conference is hosted by the Leibniz Institute for European History and the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. It will be held in German.

5–7 October 2023
Kathedralforum Dresden, Schloßstraße 24, 01067 Dresden
Registration is necessary
