Call for Papers

The International Research Training Group „Religious Cultures in 19th and 20th-century Europe“ at LMU Munich is calling for papers for a conference on "Science, Religion and Political Dissent in the long 19th Century", 16-17 February 2018. The four problem areas the workshop aims to deal with are:

Science, Anticlericalism and Criticism of Religion

Science, Political Dissent and Social Reform

European Dimensions and Transnational Networks

Popularising Science and Translation

Teaching Fellow Position University of Edinburgh

Applications are invited for the position of a Teaching Fellow in Anthropology of South Asian Religions in the School of Divinity from candidates with expertise in the social scientific methods in the study of Modern South Asian religion and society.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide teaching to cover research leave in the Religious Studies Subject Area and to take responsibility for designing and delivering course materials and assessing student performance. The role will also play a key part in the organisation and delivery of the Religious Studies seminar series.

The successful candidate must have a PhD in Religious Studies or equivalent, with a specialism in Modern South Asian Religions, or must have submitted before taking up the appointment. They must demonstrate good teaching ability at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

This is a part-time, 17.5 hours, fixed-term post available from 1 September 2017 to 31 May 2018. Salary: £32,004- £38,183 per annum pro rata.

Closing date: 5pm (GMT) 6th June 2017.
