Farewell

On 1 February our Senior Researcher Daniel Kinitz will start a new job with the project "Bibliotheca Arabica – A New History of Arabic Literature" at the Saxon Academy of Sciences in cooperation with Leipzig University (period 2018 -2035). Daniel will give a final presentation in our next colloquium on 24 January. We wish you all the best for the future and hope to see you around at the KFG's events as often as possible!

Public Lecture on (Religious) Tolerance

On 24 January, 7 p.m. Rainer Forst will give a public lecture on "Tolerance - On the Anatomy of a Contested Concept (Toleranz - Zur Anatomie eines umstrittenen Begriffs)" at the Paulinum of Leipzig University. In his lecture, Forst will explain different conceptions of tolerance and their historical emergence. He will also discuss the question how the concept can be applied to contemporary conflicts and social challenges. The lecture will be held in German and is part of the "exkurs-lectures" series of the DFG. The lecture will be recorded and can be viewed in the DFG's media library afterwards.

 

Open Positions

The Law & Anthropology Department of the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle/Saale invites applications for 3 Postdoctoral research positions and 5 Positions for Doctoral Students beginning 1 October 2018. Applicants are asked to submit their application materials electronically by 15 March 2018.
