Conference: "Soziologie wiederkehrender Religionen. Originalität und Relevanz der Religionssoziologie von Wolfgang Eßbach"

This conference is a cooperation of the Sections Sociology of Religion and Sociology of Culture within the German Sociological Association (GSA) and the KFG "Multiple Secularities". It will deal with Wolfgang Eßbach's Book Religionssoziologie 1. Glaubenskrieg und Revolution als Wiege neuer Religionen, analysing the conditions for religious revival, for the stabilisation of religions and for increasing religious indifference.  Furthermore, he seeks to explore the changes of religious belief within religious dynamics. The conference will take place at Bibliotheca Albertina on 13 and 14 March 2018. It will be held in German please contact the organisers if you would like to participate.

Award for Mohammad Magout

Our Senior Researcher Mohammad Magout has received the Katharina-Winscheid-Prize at the Annual Reception of the Research Academy of Leipzig University in January. This prize is given to a doctoral researcher at the Academy, who completed an outstanding dissertation under special circumstances and who deserves recognition for promoting gender equality and family-friendliness in the research environment. Mohammad Magout is the first male researcher to receive this prize.

Chai. Chinese Filmfestival Leipzig

From today, 14 February, to 17 February, the Chinese Filmfestival "Chai" takes place in Leipzig. The movies are screened at the Cinematheque Leipzig with English subtitles. The opener is the movie Plastic China tonight at 7 p.m.
