Dear friends and colleagues, This week, our KFG will be hosting the Workshop “Beyond Secularity: Neutral Zones and How to Find them in Premodern Sources”, which we have organised together with Brian Catlos from the University of Colorado Boulder. Next Wednesday, our Senior Research Fellow Daniel Witte will present his research project at our colloquium. We also have a new publication for you, an information regarding the KFG offices and an appeal for donations for those hit by the devastating earthquake in the border region of Turkey/Syria in February. |

As a preparatory reading our director Monika Wohlrab-Sahr recommends an article in The New York Review by Joshua Leifer on “Whose Constitution, Whose Democracy?”. |

Cleaning of windows at our offices, 12 MayWe would like to inform you that on Friday this week, the windows in our offices in the Strohsack will be cleaned. For this, the cleaning company will have access to our rooms. Please make sure that the windows are freely accessible and the corresponding window sills are without any trays. And without wanting to insinuate anything, it might be better not to leave any valuables lying around in the open during this period. There is a lockable cabinet in each office that you can use. If you don't come to the office during this period and still have valuables lying around that you would like to put away, please let us know; we would then put them away/lock them up. |

Act of Solidarity: Appeal for donations for people in the earthquake region in Turkey, 14 MayIt has been three months since massive earthquakes hit the area on the border between Turkey and Syria. Our Associate Member Markus Dreßler draws our attention to an open air fundraising event: On 14 May there will be food & drinks, activities for kids, live music and concerts at Conne Island which you are welcome to join and donate for the organization “Platform Art Activities for Children”, an NGO that organizes workshops with artistic activities for children in the earthquake regions in Turkey to improve their psychosocial situation. The event is organized by Kültür Kollektiv Leipzig together with Conne Island. During the day there will be also ongoing live information on the election results in Turkey.
