Public Keynote

Nader Sohrabi will give a public keynote on "Reluctant Nationalists, Imperial Nation State and Neo-Ottomanism: Turks, Albanians and the Antinomies of the End of Empire" on 14 December, 5 p.m. at room 5.55 (Strohsack, Nikolaistraße 8-10) to introduce the Workshop on Nationalism and Religion taking place on 15 December at the same venue. Papers will be presented from 10 a.m.  to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m.  to 6 p.m. that day. All presentations are public and listeners are welcome. A detailed schedule will be published in the events section of our website as soon as possible.

Job Offer

The KFG is looking for a sociologist/social scientist for a full-time post-doctoral position for 2 years, from 4/2018 to 3/2020. If funding of the Centre for another 4 years will be granted (2020-2024), an extension of the position is possible. Applicants should fulfill the following requirements:

  • Research experience in the Sociology of Religion and Secularity;
  • Training, if possible research experience in Historical Sociology;
  • Training, if possible research experience in one non-Western region.

Application deadline is 10 January 2018.

Mohammad Magout organises an open panel on "The Arabic Press in the 19th C: History. Development and Impact" at the World Congress for Middle Eastern Studies (WOCMES; 16 - 22 July 2018, Seville) and calls for papers. Deadline to submit abstracts to Mohammad is on 08 January 2018.
