Save the Date: Public talk by Tijana KrsticOn 28 November, 7 p.m. we will host Tijana Krstic (CEU) for a public talk. She is a historian of the early modern Ottoman Empire and its place in and connections with the wider early modern world. She is interested in social, cultural and religious history, especially in circulation of texts, artefacts, people and religio-political concepts across imperial, cultural and confessional boundaries. Workshop for Junior Researchers: Religion and Nationalism in Historical PerspectiveFrom October to December 2017 Nader Sohrabi is a guest of Leipzig University in the context of the University's Leibniz Programme. The KFG "Multiple Secularities" hosts him for the time of this affiliation. We offer the possibility to join a workshop for Junior Researchers presenting their current projects relating to the topic "Religion and Nationalism in Historical Perspective". The workshop will be supervised by Nader Sohrabi and framed by a public lecture. Symposium: Japanese Studies After 3.11From 9 to 11 November the Japanese Studies Leipzig organise a Symposium on the aftermaths of the Great East Japan earthquake of 11 March 2011 and the nuclear plant accident consequent upon it. On 11 November Isomae Jun'ichi (International Research Center for Japanese Studies) will present a paper on "Translation, Mysterious Others and Transference: Religious Subjectifications from the Experience of Northeast Japan Disaster" within the panel "Politics and Intellectual Situation after 3.11". The Symposium will take place at Bibliotheca Albertina (Vortragssaal). Registration is required.

Workshops: English Communication (in academic contexts)The Language Center at Leipzig University offers workshops in English communication in academic contexts such as "How to provide Constructive Feedback", "Leading and Guiding Seminar Discussions", "Teaching in English", "Strategies for Argumentation in Seminars and Courses" and more in the winter semester. The courses are free of charge for members of Leipzig University.
