Public Lecture: Thomas Schmidt-Lux on '' Is There a Secularist Architecture, and How Does It Look? Field Notes from Turkey and the GDR''

5 May 2022

5 pm

Seminargebäude, Room S 403

My lecture explores the question which role architecture can play in the
separation of religious and secular spheres. I will distinguish between different architectural modes and explain them in more detail. Furthermore, I am particularly interested in the (difficult!) question whether there is a secularist architecture and how it can possibly be identified. Empirically my considerations are mainly based on examples from the GDR and Turkey.
